Backend Engineer.

You own the systems the product stands on: the pipeline that keeps the CRM current without anyone typing into it, the orchestration layer the agents reason inside, and the data model everything else reads from. Ahoy is a system of action, so these systems don't just record what happened - they decide what should happen next. We hire this role at both Senior and Staff level.

What you'll do

Build and own the ingestion path - email, calendar, calls - and the pipeline that turns raw activity into records people trust.
Design how agents reason over CRM data: retrieval, tool use, evals, and the guardrails that keep a human in the loop.
Own production. Instrumentation, on-call, and cost and latency budgets that hold under load.
Pair with the founders on what to build next. Argue when something doesn't make sense.
Set the backend patterns the rest of the team follows - service boundaries, testing, migrations.

What you bring

Strong Python in production, with real distributed-systems fundamentals: databases, queues, idempotency, async work.
API design you'd be happy to hand to another team without a meeting.
You've debugged something in production that no runbook covered, then written the runbook.
Calm under load. You make the system and the people running it better at the same time.
Hybrid out of Dublin. We work in person several days a week.

Senior or Staff?

Same role, two bars. Tell us which one you're aiming at and we'll calibrate from there.

Senior. 5+ years shipping production backend. You own services end to end, including the operational reality that comes with them.
Staff. 8+ years, including time at Staff / Principal / Tech Lead level. You set architecture across services, and you've shipped systems at meaningful scale rather than just diagrammed them.

Bonus

Production experience with LLM agent systems - orchestration, retrieval, evals, cost and latency tuning.
You've built CRM, sales tech, or pipeline platforms before.
Open-source work, writing, or talks that show how you reason about systems.
